Marisela Barbosa is a small business owner and civic leader dedicated to fostering sustainable economic growth in the community. Marisela is the co-founder of Monarch Engineers, an engineering firm specializing in civil, structural, and mechanical engineering. In 2016, she founded Green Hive Spaces a coworking space in downtown Vallejo with a focus on sustainability.

Marisela is the recipient of several awards, including the Spirit of Solano, North Bay Business Journal Latina Leadership Award, the Athena International Award, Vallejo Mayor’s Community Recognition Award and Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Community Advocate of the Year, and Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award. ​​ She’s been featured in the North Bay Business Journal, Latina Style, Vallejo Times-Herald, and The Daily Republic. 

 

Marisela is passionate about community engagement serves on the Active Transportation Plan 2021 Technical Advisory Committee, Metropolitan Transportation Commission. She also provides technical assistance and support to individuals and organizations with a focus on servicing the Latino community.

 

Currently, Marisela is a member of  FLAME: Female Leadership, Mentor Exchange, 100 + Women Who Care Placer County,  and an Honorary Board Director of the Rocklin Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to her many volunteer and community positions, Marisela is a proud mother of two beautiful girls, wife to an amazing husband, and loves bird watching and being in nature.
